The photograph was produced circa 1875, and the studio is currently unknown.Although the engraving is relatively faithful, the kamon symbol featuring a wood sorel (maru ni katabami, 丸に片喰) on the underside of the horse has been removed. The driver has also been made more ethnically ambiguous.
